HSC Valentine's Day Week is from February 10th to February 14th. Students can also wear "the outfit that they LOVE the most" if they'd like!

Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year is here!
All HSC families, whether you plan on returning, are unsure, or are not returning to HSC, please fill out the Return Enrollment Form no later than Wednesday, February 12th. If you are not returning, please specify your anticipated plans for next year.
The Class Catalog will be posted on our website towards the end of February. We are excited about new classes and working as quickly as possible to make this available! The dates that the Class Selection Forms will be sent out in March are TBD. As a reminder, filling out a Class Selection Form is what reserves your spot for next year (fees are not collected until class changes are done in September).
REPEATING 6th GRADE YEAR
6th grade students who are 12 on or before October 1st, 2020 have the option of repeating their 6th grade year with us at HSC! Repeat 6th grade students will have the opportunity to go to Outdoor Lab in the fall, even if they have already attended. For any questions please contact Ms. Chelsea or Ms. Danielle.
KINDERGARTEN
If you have a Kindergartner joining us for the 2020-21 school year, you will receive an email in the upcoming weeks with steps for Enrolling your Kindergartner. Please keep an eye out for that!
Please note that HSC is NOT using the district's ENROLL JEFFCO system this year. If you have any questions about how ENROLL JEFFCO works, please email Ms Chelsea

Pixar Field Trip
Pixar Field Trip
HSC Families,
This month's field trip HSC will be exploring the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and The Science Behind Pixar Exhibit! The dates are Wednesday, February 26 and Thursday, February 27. There are two options this year:
Option A: The Science Behind Pixar - $9 for Adults, $5 for Children. We have two time slots reserved for the Pixar exhibit at 10:20am. Please arrive no later than 10:15am as the exhibit entry times are locked and late entry will not be allowed. Included with your ticket to Pixar is free General Admission to all other museum exhibits.
Option B: General Admission - FREE. Free entry to all other exhibits.
OPTIONAL LUNCH: At 12pm whether you went to Pixar or choose General Admission, we invite ALL HSC families to join us in the lunch area for a community building lunch! Tables are first come first serve. Food will not be provided and it is recommended that you bring a sack lunch.
To RSVP please complete the Pixar/Museum Field Trip Form by Wednesday, February 19th.
Additional Things to Know:
- Payment for Pixar is due upon arrival to the museum. Cash or Check ONLY.
- Please arrive between 9:45am and 10:15am. Late entry will not be accepted as the Pixar exhibit has a tight schedule.
- An HSC teacher will accompany the Pixar group for both days of the field trip. Following the community lunch, HSC staff will stay at the museum until 2pm to answer questions and walk through exhibits with families. HSC staff members are NOT CONSIDERED CHAPERONES. You are responsible for your student and your group.
- This field trip is only available for HSC Families.
- Please RSVP by Wednesday February, 19th. Email hscevents@wwahomeschool.org for any questions.

CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success)Testing
Every March and April, students in grades 3-6 across the state take the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). CMAS assessments determine a student’s achievement and academic growth in English Language Arts, Math, and Science (5th and 8th grade only) in relation to the Colorado Academic Standards.
· Taken every March/April in grades 3-8 (and high school)
· Each test session is between 60-120 minutes long
· They are all on the computer
· Information gets reported to the school, district, and state
· No individual information about student achievement and academic growth is released to the public
· Measures student’s achievement and academic growth in:
- English Language Arts
- 3 sessions in grades 3 - 8
- Math
- 3 sessions in grades 3 - 8
- Science
- 3 sessions in grades 5 and 8 only
- Social Studies
- 3 sessions in grades 4 and 7 (every 3 years)

If you are interested in having your student take this series of tests, they will need to attend Woodrow Wilson Academy at 8300 W 94th Ave in Westminster for all of the days/times below for their grade level. If your student takes one test, they must take all tests at the times above:
- Six total mornings for grades 3, 4 and 6
- Nine total mornings for grade 5
If you are interested in participating, please notify Sarah Jacobson at sjacobson@wwacademy.org or by calling at 303-431-594 ext. 155 by Friday, February 14, 2020 to let her know your interest.

- Our Evergreen location is NUT FREE, please refrain from packing any type of nuts in your student's lunch and snack.
- Look out for upcoming MONTHLY field trips. For field trip ideas, questions, or to sign up please email hscevents@wwahomeschool.org
- It's encouraged to label all backpacks, water bottles, and lunch boxes so that your student comes home with them at the end of the day.
- Please remember to bring Tennis Shoes for all Physical Education Classes (Martial Arts, Games, Energize, etc). Squashed toes are never fun!
- Musical Theater Students please remember to print your script at home and bring it to school every week. If you are unable to print please email Ms. Hayley
- It is fully winter outside! Please send your students with appropriate attire as we try to go outside for recess each day.

I am heading up the Scholastic Reading Club this year for Ms. Chelsea and wanted to let everyone know how easy it is to order books for your young people! Scholastic offers great prices on a wide variety of books for kids of all reading levels. After your first order online you will receive a credit for a free book (Worth up to $5.00, first time scholastic users only) on your next online order. Each month there are always multiple books available for just $1. You can find them on the magazine cover page!

We had another successful year at our annual field trip to the National Western Stock Show! HSC Families had the choice to join us either on Thursday or Friday, and were free to wander all day looking at the livestock and other agricultural activities.
