This page has a collection of apps and web tools to potentially find out:
what students already know
what they have learned after your lesson
what they think about a topic, what views and opinions they have
what they are struggling with the most, what they are finding easy
how they feel about their work (reflection) e.g What Went Well, Even Better If, In Order To Improve
Don't forget that the key objective of formative assessment is to sample / check / explore what learning has 'stuck' in students' minds. Amongst other things, it can help you to identify common misconceptions, plan interventions and create powerful future learning activities. Be sure to check at regularly intervals what students know and can remember (spaced practice), for example there is nothing wrong with giving the class the same 'Quiz' at the start of the topic, after the lesson, after a week and at the end of the unit. This will allow you to see the degree to which knowledge is 'sticking'. (For more on Assessment For Learning, please visit the Online CPD tile)
