Our ExCEL Virtual Learning Academy is powered by CAOLA, the Capital Area Online Learning Association, providing full and part-time online learning for your child.  CAOLA is a collaborative effort between the Capital Area Intermediate Unit and member school districts to provide flexible online learning options for all students. CAOLA’s web-based courses meet the increasing demand for high quality student instruction that incorporates proven online learning practices and next generation software.

• Stay enrolled in the West Shore School District and earn your official District diploma ~ right from home.

• Remain connected to your home school for musicals, clubs, extracurriculars, and school events.

• Participate in all sports, activities, graduation ceremonies, and school-sponsored programs.

• Access a free, flexible online program that includes full-time curriculum, individual course options, credit recovery, and summer school.

• Enjoy more schedule flexibility than traditional cyber schools ~ weekly meetings and office hours are available but not required.

• Receive specialized support from our dedicated in-house Learning Support Teachers for students with IEPs or special education needs.

• Our dedicated Advisor will guide you through the process and help you stay connected to your school community.

Middle School (grades 6-8) Benefits

• Support from our Monitor Teachers and Advisor to help answer questions.

• Students can attend all PTO sponsored events.

High School (grades 9-12) Benefits

• Students are able to select from a large catalog of courses.

• Students can go full time online, or choose a blended schedule to attend some classes in person and some classes online.

• Students have the opportunity to take accelerated classes and get ahead on credits.
