Before enrolling in online courses, students should consider whether they are ready for the unique responsibilities of virtual learning. Students who are most successful in ExCEL typically demonstrate the following qualities:

Self-Motivated

Take initiative, complete assignments, and stay engaged without constant reminders.

Independent Learner

Work at your own pace while meeting weekly pacing expectations and course deadlines.

Comfortable with Technology

Use email, the internet, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other online learning tools with confidence.

Time Management

Establish a daily routine, stay organized, and dedicate regular time to coursework.

Effective Communication

Communicate respectfully and clearly with teachers and classmates using school email and other online learning tools.

Personal Commitment

Take ownership of your learning and remain committed to completing coursework and achieving your academic goals.

Role of the Learning Coach

An active and supportive Learning Coach is one of the most important factors in a student's success in an online learning environment. A Learning Coach may be a parent, guardian, family member, or another trusted adult who can spend time each day encouraging, motivating, and supporting the student's learning journey. 

• Establish a consistent daily routine.

• Provide a quiet, organized learning environment.

• Monitor academic progress and attendance.

• Encourage communication with teachers when questions arise.

• Support time management and assignment completion.

• Celebrate successes and encourage perseverance through challenges.

Successful online learning is a partnership between the student, family, and school. Together, we can help every student reach their full potential.

Enrollment Information

Students experience the greatest success when they begin ExCEL during key transition points in the school year. Whenever possible, we recommend enrolling at the beginning of the school year to allow for the smoothest transition. However, enrollment may be available throughout the year based on individual circumstances and District guidelines.
