Class Overview
This is a performance-oriented program for students who wish to learn more about acting and the theatre profession. No previous acting experience is required, but students must be willing to take risks and criticism as part of the creative process. Students will learn how to interpret text and develop believable characters. The course will also include units in auditioning, voice acting, Shakespeare, Absurdism, and theatre history. A significant amount of reading and written work will be required along with “performance based” assignments. Students are required to attend a variety of off-site productions and field-based learning experiences; given the current pandemic conditions, this may change. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, we will be monitoring the available guidance from the school district, the VT Agency of Education, and the CDC. We will make adjustments to off-site and field-based learning experience protocols as necessary. Safety is our top priority for our students and our wider community.
