Innovation High and WIC are two separate programs located in the same building on 12th street. Here are the key differences:
Students choose to come either full time or split their schedule with one day at Innovation and one day at their boundary school.
Innovation courses are offered through a freeflow (hybrid) model. Students are able to work through the course as quickly as they would like and move on to the next quarter early.
Teachers are available for one-on-one tutoring. Teachers do not hold lecture-style classes during the school day.
Students must apply and meet the application requirements (3.0 or higher GPA, no diciplinary issues, no attendance issues) to attend Innovation High.
Magnet classes are available to any student in the district. Students work with their boundary school counselor to add these courses to their schedule. No need to apply!
Students will be bussed to WIC for their class and then bussed back to their boundary school after class.
9th grade STEM essentials is taught in the mornings.
10-12th grade magent classes are taught in the afternoon. Magnet classes included PLTW Engineering, ICA Computer Programming, Aviation, Dog Training, Bike Repair, Fire Science, Landscape Architecture, Digital Graphic Design, Drone Technology, and Real Estate.Â
