Employment
Some students find that entering the workforce upon graduation from college is the best move for them. There are several employment opportunities in and around the Wachusett area and several resources to help students get gainfully employed in the career of their choice.
Getting a Job - On Your Own
All teens under the age of 18 must acquire a work permit. The work permit must be signed by the student and the prospective employer. Information about acquiring a work permit.
MA Work permit application can be found here and you may obtain a work permit at the WRHS main office.
Getting a Job With Agency Help - MRC
There are many agencies in MA that help students transition to the workforce. At Wachusett, we work with MRC ( Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission). The MRC services are offered to students on an IEP. They offer the following services: career connection seminars, job training initiatives, pre-employment training services, part- and full-time job placement as well as job coaching to their clients. At the student's IEP meeting, a referral to MRC is discussed with the team and an application sent home with parents to complete.
Here is a description of how MRC can help you.
