VISUAL PUNS
For this project you will be creating a visual pun. What is a pun? A pun is a joke that makes a play on words, typically by using words that sound similar but have different meanings. It can also use different meanings of the same word to make the saying funny, like time flies, or bullfrog.
Here's what you'll need:
- 8 1/5 x 11 blank paper. I will accept lined paper, but blank copy paper is really what you should be using.
- pencils, eraser
- markers, sharpies, crayons, colored pencils, paint, etc.
Here's what you'll do:
- Choose a pun from the list below. Do not make up your own without asking me first.
- Sketch out your idea in pencil.
- Make sure that your pun is the main focus of the project. It should be nice and big.
- Have a background or environment where the pun is located.
- Fill the paper with your art and fully color it in with whatever media you want to use. No black and white work please
- Send me an image (taken on a flat surface from above) to scott_petersen@wrsd.net.

Time flies
Here's my example of a visual pun. I chose "Time Flies". So to illustrate that, I drew a clock with wings flying. I added an environment where this visual pun exists. Since I gave it dragon wings, I thought that a castle background with mountains at night might look good. Notice that the visual pun is the focus of the project, It is in the center and is the largest thing in the work, but there is also a fully realized and colored in background.
