What is the Fast Forward Program?
The Fast Forward Program is a four to five year secondary school-to–work program. KCI is designated as one of the five schools in the WRDSB to offer this program.
This program is for students who…
Learn by doing
Plan to move directly from secondary school to the workplace
Are not working at grade level (usually 2-4 years out of phase)
Fast Forward students…
Can earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma
Can earn industry certificates that are recognized by employers
Develop literacy and numeracy skills
Participate in extensive on-the-job training and acquire real-life work experience
Develop knowledge, skills and attitudes important in the workplace
The Fast Forward program…
Provides hands-on training
Develops communication and interpersonal skills
Builds self-confidence through personal success
Gives students opportunities for experience in the workplace
Is delivered in partnership with local industry
Prepares students for rewarding careers and promising futures
How does my son/daughter get into the Fast Forward Program?
Applications to the Fast Forward Program are done at the Elementary School level, by a Guidance Counsellor or SERT
Families will be notified by their student's Elementary School, if they are a good candidate for the program
Families will be a part of the entire process and will be able to give the final approval for entrance into the program for Grade 9
Here are a couple dates to keep in mind...
January 10 - Applications to Fast Forward are due
February 14 - Families will need to declare their intent to accept or decline any offer of admission to the program
