How are IEPs transferred to KCI from the elementary school?
All WRDSB IEPs are saved in a confidential database
All WRDSB IEPs become available to high school staff (online), as soon as a student attends their first class in September
All WRDSB IEPs are reviewed and adjusted to meet the needs of each student at the secondary level
Families will receive an updated copy of the IEP in late October and are able to approve its use, or request a meeting to discuss it
What if my son/daughter requires support during class time or for an assessment (test, project, etc.)?
Students with an IEP will always have access to the accommodations listed on that individual document
All students have the ability to use our support classrooms (Resource or Student Success), if they require...
Extra time for a test or assignment
Organizational support
A break to regroup and/or ask questions
A quiet environment to complete a task
For other supports, students can speak with their teacher or guidance counsellor about the best approach
What if my son/daughter missed course selection, or has changed their mind about which school they will attend?
Please contact the guidance teacher at your particular school for all of these answers
They can support missed course selection, school changes, transfer requests, and so much more
