Which elements of the program (modules, workshops, mentoring, etc.) have you found most valuable so far, and why?
8 answers
mentoring
TRAINING MODULES
The monthly meetups and modules
All, as everything is insightful
I find the Mentoring element to be the most valuable part of the program because it helps or simply encourages me to learn or improve my mistakes.
The flexibility in taking and completing the course is the most valuable element for me so far. I am really optimistic when I started the course but there are times that I cannot fully focus due to other responsibilities and so I slowed down. The Pathways community has been active and supportive so I feel encouraged every time.
I found the modules on data sources and excel for data analysis quite helpful. This is because where l currently volunteer, l work with a lot of data , which can be confusing for someone in the humanities. The detailed course outline makes the content easy to follow as well as retain. The one on one meeting was impactful for me as Flora encouraged me to just apply as long as l have at least 60% to 70% of the required skills for a job advert. The Workshop on advice for breaking into the virtual space has been particularly helpful. It has made me realise l need to further my knowledge on agile methodologies.
The delivery style for the program. The use of videos to explain and also the assessment tests.
What challenges have you encountered, and what improvements would you recommend for the remaining sessions?
8 answers
Guidance on how to get remote jobs for us in Africa because this seems to be the challenge I have been facing in my job hunt.
N/A
None so far
None.
Currently i am facing issues because i am not familiar with few technical concepts since i am new to this but i am trying myself to explore extra videos on you tube.
I really wanted to learn each lessons and in order for me to do that I need to focus which seemed impossible as a mother BUT! Whenever I feel that way I always keep in mind that the goal is to learn, and not to finish fast. I can't think of something to recommend for the sessions because I see that everything is structured and the organizers and the community always makes me feel motivated
Personal challenges l face are related to access to the internet, which might affect me accessing the courses and finishing them timely. The other challenge is that the group or cohort page isn't active. Maybe pairing course takers to share their challenges and write a weekly report in pairs of what they have done. Or maybe at the end of the program , each participant details how and where they have utilised the skills gained.
Managing my time. But I am actively working on improving.
What are your hopes and goals for after you finish the program?
8 answers
I really hope to land myself a remote role so that am able to have a work-life balance. As a stay at home mum, I need to have time for my kid while attaining some financial independence.
TO HAVE RECEVED A CERTFICATES FOR ALL THE COURSES I'D LIKE TO TAKE
I hope to get a new job as I progress
To get an internship to practice my new skill
I hope that i will learn new skills of data analysis that will help me to find my job in both government and corporate sector. My goal is to apply for an analyst profile in a few think tanks or any company after finishing the program
I am really hoping to learn the foundations and build my portfolio so I can eventually transition into a UI/UX role
My hope is that l leverage on the skills acquired to apply for entry level positons in data analysis as l want to do a career shift. I also hope it will make me a more efficient research analyst in my current position. It is my hope that the job postings on circle offers opportunities in beginner data analyst roles. My goal is to be a lifelong researcher who is efficient and relevant in both quantitative and qualitative research. My goal is to be more comfortable and resilient through learning
That I will finally get my career aligned in this field.
