We are excited to welcome you to this elective course, designed to provide learners with a comprehensive and engaging introduction to the world of percussion. Over the next three months, students will embark on a musical journey that will not only develop their technical skills but also foster creativity, teamwork, and an appreciation for the rich diversity of percussion traditions from around the world!
Here's what students and parents can expect from our percussion class:
Learners will also explore the role of rhythm and meter in music. They will gain an understanding of different time signatures, rhythmic patterns, and how these elements come together to create the music we hear every day. Through both individual practice and drum circles, students will develop their ability to keep time, listen to others, and play as part of a musical ensemble.
As we progress through the class, we will add melodic percussion instruments and lyrics from songs and poetry that we can drum along to. This way students will learn how to blend rhythm with lyrics and melody in a harmonious way. Learners will also have the chance to make their own rhythmical songs, encouraging creative expression.
The course will culminate in a final performance, where students will showcase what they have learned. This performance will not only highlight their technical skills but also their ability to work together as a music band. This will not only build the students' teamwork skills but also boost their confidence as performers. It will be a proud moment for all, and we look forward to sharing this accomplishment with you!
We are thrilled to have you join us on this musical adventure. We believe that this course will not only enhance your musical abilities but also provide a fun and enriching experience that will stay with you long after the final performance.
We look forward to seeing you in class and sharing in the joy of making music together!
