Frequently Asked Questions
Why Community Gala (GSA Prom)?
For most high school students, prom night is a special time of sheer fun and memory making. However, for those teens who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning, prom night can be a source of anxiety. While their classmates are busy lining up the perfect outfit and date, LGBTQ+ students often worry about whether they will face discrimination or be harassed at the dance. As a result, some students choose to avoid the event altogether. This prom is an opportunity for approximately 300 LGBTQ+ and straight ally high school students to experience an important high school milestone in a safe and affirming environment. Students will be attending from multiple high schools.
Enjoy a night of music, dancing, entertainment, and FUN with LGBTQ+ and straight ally youth.
This event is open to LGBTQ+ and straight ally high school students from the high schools listed above, and more. If your high school is not on the list, please reach out or ask. Registration is required. Please check in with the GSA advisor from your school.
If you have any questions, please reach out.
