Ensuring a sustainable future for the students to come
Ensuring a sustainable future for the students to come
At William & Mary, sustainability is something students engage with both on and off campus. Our administration will continue and expand sustainability education campaigns that highlight how everyday choices impact our campus and the greater Williamsburg community. We will collaborate with the College’s Office of Sustainability to broaden these outreach efforts.
Our administration will continue to promote intentional waste management, composting and move-out waste diversion while also opening up access to recycling and e-waste options with a special waste bin. We will utilize our Outreach Department to craft creative educational materials highlighting what can and cannot be composted or recycled, ensuring that no sustainable trashing is tainted by misplaced waste.
Efficient public transportation is essential to student mobility and sustainability. Our administration will work with the City of Williamsburg and the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) to promote regular use of public transit and improve awareness of existing routes. We will advocate for a weekend extension of Line 8 to improve transportation access for students living in the Evans Apartments. We also believe healthy biking infrastructure is necessary for college life. Our administration will work with facilities to increase bike racks and fix-it stations in high-demand areas.
