Accelerated Math

Grade 5 & 6 Math

All students in Grade 5 participate in grade level Math. 

*A majority of the students in Grade 6 participate in grade level Math.

*With that being stated, administration and staff are continuously reviewing data and student performance for the purpose of designing programming and instruction that is aligned to students' needs. This practice may result in a select few 5th grade students being invited to screen for placement into Grade 7 Math, based on data that may indicate a giftedness in Mathematics. 

Grade 7 Math

At the conclusion of their 6th grade year, all students are given the Savvaas Math readiness placement test. These scores, along with report card grades, NJSLA scores, classroom performance and teacher input are considered for Math placement in 7th grade. 

Based on the aforementioned data points, students are placed in either Gr. 7 Math or Accelerated Pre-Algebra. 

Note: If students do not qualify for the accelerated Math program, parents/guardians can request that their students be waived into the program. Administration will review all requests and notify the parent/guardian of the placement decision.

Grade 8 Math

At the conclusion of their 7th grade year, all students are given the Savvaas Math readiness placement test. These scores, along with report card grades, NJSLA scores, classroom performance and teacher input are considered for Math placement in 8th grade. 

Based on the aforementioned data points, students are placed in either Gr. 8 Math or Algebra 1.
