Science/Social Studies in K

Science

Kindergarten Science takes a hands-on and inquiry based approach. Our units of study range from biology through a living organisms unit to physics by exploring with forces and motion through the use of Kinnex. Using non-fiction texts and real world science topics, we are able to observe, explore, and research a broader knowledge of topics on everyday science through hands-on experiments and the use of science journals.

Social Studies

Kindergarten Social Studies takes a thematic approach. We endeavor to make our lessons timely, including the celebration of seasonal holidays from around the globe, and the investigation of historical events and age appropriate current news stories. We delve into trade books, read a Scholastic News each week, write and illustrate journals, complete art projects to add in a sensory component and engage in class discussions to make the most of our Social Studies time!
