Curriculum Overview: In Kindergarten, students will begin to hear, identify and make connections among sounds, letters, words, and pictures to construct meaning from text. Students will utilize the Amplify CKLA curriculum. Students will hear a variety of texts and genres. In addition, students will learn sight words and the skills needed to decode words alone, and in simple sentences. Students will also write their first and last names and begin the writing process through illustrations and independently spelling words which will be incorporated into simple sentences with appropriate capitalization and punctuation.
