Shape Scavenger Hunt
Send your child on a shape scavenger hunt. Review the basic shapes: rectangle, circle, triangle and square. Have your child find objects in your house that match the shape.
Play War With Cards
Use Uno cards or a deck of regular playing cards to play war. Each player puts down one card. The player with the highest card wins that round and collects the cards. The player who collects all the cards first wins. You can use words like more, greater than, fewer or less than. If your child has mastered their numbers, you can play Addition War, where each player gets two cards and the player with the highest sum wins the round.
Counting Math Sticks
Craft sticks can be used in a variety of ways. You can number the sticks by 1s, starting at 0 and going to ten and have your child order the sticks. Once they've mastered that you can add numbers through 20. You can also, practice skip counting by 2s, 5s or 10s for this activity.
Subtraction bowling
Using materials you have at home, you can make homemade bowling pins. Have your child roll the ball and count how many pins he/she knocked down. Have he/she compare the number of pins knocked down to those still standing.
Jigsaw Puzzles
Solving jigsaw puzzles is a great way to recognize shapes, color, patterns as well as compare differences and similarities among the pieces.
