Revit Floorplan: First Floor

I was asked to design a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath home. This home is estimated to be about 2080 square feet. On the first floor of this home on the left hand side, is a 2 car garage with a mudroom for shoes and coats, and pantry for storage and food preparation, connecting it to the rest of the house. The kitchen is a large one-wall kitchen with an island for more counter space for preparation and seating. Further down the "kitchen" wall is a coffee/drink bar next to the dining room table. On the other side of the staircase is the living area. I wanted to design the house with a large living area with plenty of seating. I wanted the living room to be able to hold a large amount of guests without feeling cramped, and I wanted to refrain from dividing the area into two different rooms. The vaulted ceiling along with windows and sliding glass doors make the room feel even bigger than it is. In the back of the house between the kitchen and living room is a half bath for guests. Laundry and utilities are in the basement.

Revit Floorplan: Second Floor

On the second floor there are 4 bedrooms and two full bathrooms. When you walk upstairs you come to the first full bathroom. This bathroom includes two separate vanities, a large walk in shower and a water closet for the toilet. As you walk down the hallway there are two identical 13 x 17 bedrooms on the right, which include large windows for natural light and a 2 x 7.5 closet. Across the hallway is another 15.5 x 15.5 bedroom, with a large window facing the front yard and a 2 x 10 closet. At the end of the hallway on the left is the 13 x 20 master bedroom. The master bedroom includes a 7 x 11 on suite with a 3 x 9 shower in the back of it. As you enter the master bathroom, on the right, is the 6 x 7 walk in closet.

Revit Elevations

For the exterior of the house I wanted to create a contemporary look with the large floor to ceiling windows in the common areas. It's also a good way to get natural light into the rooms and helps make it feel more open. Although the house is not a perfect square I wanted to make the roof as simple as possible. My envision was slightly different than my images due to a lack of understanding in Revit using the roofs. I wanted to have the peaks in the front for large windows in the dormers. I felt this design was simple and aesthetic.
