Revit Floorplan

This is a 2670 square foot barndominium home. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and plenty of space to entertain guests. For this barndominium I included a 3 car garage with a mudroom leading into the rest of the home. The middle of the house contains a foyer, mudroom, laundry room, pantry, and a full bathroom. The rest of the house is the grand room containing the kitchen, dining room, and the living room. In the center of the exterior wall of the house is the grand fireplace. This 2-sided fireplace and the large sliding glass doors connects the grand room to the outdoor living space. This covered porch has seating by the fireplace and a place to sit and eat while enjoying the warm weather. Upstairs, there is a small seating area with a balcony looking down to the grand room. As you walk down the hallway there are two bedrooms on the right and one on the left that are about 12.5x16. Each of those bedrooms have a 4x2 closet. All three of those bedrooms share the 5.5x10 bathroom on the right side of the hallway. The master bedroom is at the end of the hallway on the left, it is 13.5x16. It has a 4x2 closet and an additional 10.5x2.5 closet and a 5.5x10 private bathroom.

Revit Elevations

Barndominium's have become popular due to social media, but there are many benefits to building a barndominium. One of the benefits is that the structure is good for optimal insulation so there is no need for extra cooling or heating appliances. The structure is also strong and holds up against weather. For the exterior siding of this barndominium I wanted to do white board & batten to contrast with the black and natural wood accents. I included a lot of windows and skylights to let in natural light. Because of the simplistic and symmetrical shape of the building I wanted to keep that simplicity on the front of the house. As you drive up to the house it is angled so you can see the front side of the house along with the garage. On the opposite side there is the covered porch which is just the start of the outdoor living space.

On the small covered porch on the side there is seating around the fireplace that is a double sided fireplace to heat the home as well. On the large back deck there is a large table seating for about 15 and seating at the counter top connected to the kitchen. There is also a large inground pool surrounded by lounge chairs and a separate area with seating around a firepit. I envisioned this to be built into the ground although could not show this on Revit.

Revit Landscape

I was trying to play around with the landscaping part of Revit. I measured out my plot of land and added some trees to fill the space. I felt as though the small covered porch on the outside of the living area wasn't the space I envisioned for this home. With such a large plot of land there are endless possibilities so I wanted to create a backyard perfect for entertaining at gatherings. I added sliding glass doors on the kitchen and dining room wall leading out to the deck. I also added a counter top on the outside of the kitchen that connects the space for indoor/outdoor living. When the outside space isn't being used the kitchen is closed off by a large accordion window.

Plot of Land

For this project I had the opportunity to choose a plot of land to "purchase" and design a house for. This 17.62 acre property at 0 W Mile 7 Rd, Mission, TX 78574, I am planning to subdivide this property into 3 parts. It's a beautiful open lot which I think a barn dominium would fit well on and there is plenty of space to add a pool and outdoor living space. I like this property because it isn't miles away from other people but it gives you a lot of space to appreciate the views and outdoor space without invasion of privacy from your neighbors. I will be building this house on the right side of the property.
