Welcome
If you want to refer back to a previous newsletter, click on 'Summer 2021' or 'Spring 2021' above (if on a laptop/PC) , or the three lines top left if on a mobile device, then pick the week you want.
As things begin to return to a more normal way of life we are wanting to move away from the timed "windows" at the start of the day to enable a more prompt start to lessons in the classsroom. Please ensure you adhere to the times below.
Drop off:
Year 1 & 2 (and any siblings): 8.25am
Reception: 8.30am
Year 3 & 4: 8.35am
GATES WILL NOW CLOSE AT 8.40AM
Please arrive as close to the times above as possible (but NOT before). There have been an increasing number of Year 3&4 children and parents arriving early and gathering on the path outside the gate. This does not allow for clear paths or social distancing.
Collection:
Year 1 & 2: 2.55pm
Reception: 3pm
Year 3: 3.05pm
Year 4: 3.10pm
Usually in the week leading up to Father's Day the PTA would set up a stall in school from which the children can buy gifts.
Due to our bubbles, we are unable to do this this year, however, they have come up with an alternative clever plan!
From now, you will see on your online account an option to pay £2 to order a Father's Day gift bag. These can be ordered up to 3pm on Tuesday 15th June. If your child wishes to buy a gift for someone special in this way, please make payment asap. The PTA will then distribute the gift bags to each class (in a COVID secure way) for the children to bring home. We will not be able to accept any late orders or any cash in school. You don't need to let anyone know you have paid - the app will automatically generate a list of who has paid what and we will distribute accordingly.
Please see the timetable below for the range of after school clubs on offer during our final 6 weeks of Summer term. These clubs cover a range of interests and are for children from Reception - Year 4.
In addition to this we will also be offering a range of lunchtime clubs organised in school.
We will be interviewing this half term for a new Office Apprentice to join the Prudhoe West team.
We are currently advertising for a Lunchtime Supervisor (maternity cover) and 2 Teaching Assistants for EYFS.
Please get in touch if you are interested in further information, or follow the links below.
Following our interviews before half term, we have successfully appointed two new teachers!
We cannot wait to welcome Jenny Scott and Michaela Maughan, who we have no doubt are going to be brilliant additions to our incredible team!
This Friday the 11th June is the start of this incredible football tournament, and we couldn't let it pass without getting some football fever! Moving forward, we will have an optional 'RED, WHITE AND BLUE/ENGLAND' non uniform day on England match days (initially Friday 18th June & Tuesday 22nd June). Children can wear their England kit/merchandise, clothes in the England Team colours and face paints etc if they wish!
In addition to this, in school we will be hosting a class 'sweepstake'. All children will pick a country playing in the 'Euros' out of a hat, and become experts on this country. Over the course of the tournament, children will be allowed to follow their teams progress, carry out research and share fun facts about their country. Support from home with their fact finding will be much appreciated!
We cannot wait to have lots of fun, while raising money for an incredible charity who do vital work. We ask that instead of our usual gold coin donation, you follow the link below and donate directly to NSPCC and support the work that they do!
This Friday 11th June, is NSPCC Childhood Day. All children at Prudhoe West will be taking part during the day, with our usual timetable scraped and fun activities focused around PLAY and creating childhood memories scheduled ALL DAY.
This is an optional NON SCHOOL UNIFORM day, but please ensure children are wearing clothes suitable for outdoor play/woods with their legs covered and comfortable shoes! Watch out for your year group email for any specific clothing requests.
REMINDER: As the weather gets warmer, please ensure that alongside a light jacket, children have a hat/sunglasses in school to wear while outside. We are unable to apply sun cream at school, so please ensure children have a long-lasting cream applied before school that will protect them from the sun!
Thank you for your support this term with the Midweek Treat... as predicted - the children have asked if this can continue! How can I say no?!
For the rest of the term the treat will be either ice lollies or ice pops - with money raised going towards equipments for out Outdoor Areas for playtime and lunchtime.
Please remember to pay your 50p per child by midnight each Tuesday for your child to be included that week (or pay in advance for the full 6 weeks).
At the end of the day each Wednesday, those who have signed up will receive their "midweek treat" to have on the way home!
End of year reports will be sent home with children on Friday 18th June. We are so proud of all of our children and cannot wait to share their achievements with you! If you feel it is necessary, there will be an opportunity to book a telephone appointment with your class teacher after you have received these reports, if there is anything you would like to discuss.
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for Prudhoe West PTA with Easyfundraising?
There are over 4,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds.
All you need to do is:
1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/prudhoewestpta/?utm_campaign=raise-more and join for free.
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Prudhoe West PTA at no extra cost to you whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges and Prudhoe West PTA will be really grateful for your donations.
If shopping on Amazon, please also support the school by accessing amazon via smile.amazon.co.uk .
The first time you log on, search for 'Prudhoe West' (Prudhoe West First School Parent Teacher Association) and select us as your organisation to support, then shop via the smile.amazon.co.uk link rather than the main amazon site. Again there is no difference to you, but this will support the school. Please share these links via your socials and with friends and family.
