Welcome
Thanks for all the positive feedback on this new format. If you want to refer back to a previous newsletter, click on the date top right (if on a laptop/PC) , or the three lines top left if on a mobile device.
Following a parent suggestion, we've added some links at the bottom to take you to key pages of the website. There is also a link to this newsletter from the website if you ever need it.
On Friday 19th March we will be having a double celebration; we had already planned to have an 'I Am Awesome' day, where we celebrate each child's individuality, talents and interests, but it is also Comic Relief.
To link the two events, the children may come in wearing their favourite clothes. If you wish to make a donation to the charity, please do so on the link below (please do not send money to school). Due to COVID, (and the fact that the temptation to try on someone else's red nose may just be too great!) please DO NOT send any Red Noses into school on this day. Feel free to paint your child's nose red with face paint etc. if they want to do so.
Please, please, please stick to the designated times for drop off and collection, and follow the one way systems.
We are trying to enable social distancing as much as is possible. Arriving before your slot means there are more people on the path than necessary at any one point in time.
Please help us to keep you and your children safe.
Sending a huge well done and thank you to you all for your commitment, kindness and support of the school during Lockdown 3.0.
I think we can all safely say we are pleased remote learning is now over (hopefully for good), but I think we can also say that together we did a pretty amazing job!
Thank you for the many wonderful emails, cards and gifts you have sent for staff regarding this. These mean the world to us all.
Over the past year, the rainbow has become the symbol of lockdowns and hope during the pandemic. (They also happen to be one of Miss Hodgson's favourite things!)
In celebration of the end of a very strange, and short, half term, Friday 26th March 2021 will officially be our Rainbow Day. The children will join in with lots of rainbow themed activities, and are asked to come in wearing as many of the colours of the rainbow as they can!
Due to reduced staffing in the school kitchen, we will be operating on a reduced menu for the three weeks from 8th March 2021. This will feature all of our children's favouites, but there will only be the choice of one main meal or a jacket potato. We're sure you understand. The Return to School Menu can be found here (click to see full size)
Exciting new menus for the summer term will also be shared before Easter.
Usually in the week leading up to Mothers' Day the PTA would set up a Mothers' Day stall in school from which the children can buy gifts.
Due to our bubbles, we are unable to do this this year, however, they have come up with an alternative clever plan!
From now, you will see on your online account an option to pay £2 to order a Mothers' Day gift bag. These can be ordered up to 3pm on Thursday. If your child wishes to buy a gift for someone special in this way, please make payment asap. On Friday, the PTA will then distribute the gift bags to each class (in a COVID secure way) for the children to bring home. We will not be able to accept any late orders or any cash in school. You don't need to let anyone know you have paid - the app will automatically generate a list of who has paid what and we will distribute accordingly.
Due to the pandemic, use of this club has dropped off massively over the past year, and as a consequence the future of it is uncertain. We are not able to use the school budget to finance this service, so need people to use it to generate the funds to pay staff and other expenses.
We are asking all parents who would use this service in 'normal times' (and will need it when we return to 'normal) to please consider using it as you would ordinarily when the children return, even if you are working at home. If usage does not pick up over the next couple of months, we will be forced to consider whether or not the club is financially viable in the longer term. Even just using the club for an hour before or after school, so that you can work at home without distraction for a while longer (and avoid the busy pick up time), would support us; every little helps.
Each year Year 4 have raised money through cake sales to cover the cost of their Leavers Hoodies. Due to Covid this has not been possible this year. In order to begin our fundraising for this, we will be holding an Easter 'raffle'.
We are asking everyone who is able to, to donate some Easter themed prizes (chocolate eggs, cuddly toys etc). Prizes will then be shared across the classes (after being quarantined) for a draw on the last day of term.
If you are able help us we would be very grateful. Prizes can be sent in with your child on any day up to Monday 22nd March. Information regarding the purchasing of raffle tickets will be sent out nearer the time.
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY! Sustainability Day - Friday 12th March... get your litter pickers at the ready!
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for Prudhoe West PTA with Easyfundraising?
There are over 4,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds.
All you need to do is:
1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/prudhoewestpta/?utm_campaign=raise-more and join for free.
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Prudhoe West PTA at no extra cost to you whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges and Prudhoe West PTA will be really grateful for your donations.
If shopping on Amazon, please also support the school by accessing amazon via smile.amazon.co.uk .
The first time you log on, search for 'Prudhoe West' (Prudhoe West First School Parent Teacher Association) and select us as your organisation to support, then shop via the smile.amazon.co.uk link rather than the main amazon site. Again there is no difference to you, but this will support the school. Please share these links via your socials and with friends and family.
