our online newsletter for parents, carers and the community
Welcome
Hope you are all well - thought we'd try out a new format for a newsletter that is hopefully easy and user friendly for you, and quick and easy to update for us. We have the option to add a calendar etc. in time, and will also be able to provide easy links and share more photos and stories. Please let us know what you think.
Children's Mental Health Week is taking place on 1-7 February 2021. This year's theme is Express Yourself.
We invite all of our children to choose their own outfit to wear on Friday as they 'Dress to Express'. The staff will be covering the promotion of good mental health in activities throughout the week, most notably on Friday when all activities will be focused on pupil wellbeing. Whilst there will be 'Lives' at the beginning of the day and in the afternoon, the vast majority of activities will be done offline on this day.
If you are in a position to be able to make a donation to the Place2Be charity, you can do so by clicking the 'donate' button below.
Thank you to all those who voted in the recent Parent Governor Election.
I'm delighted to let you know that Mrs Sarah O'Connor was voted into the position, with 71% of the vote. Sarah currently has children in Reception and Nursery, but has a long history with the school. Her three older children, now 19, 17 and 15 used to attend, and Sarah served as a governor then for 8 years.
Sarah will join our other parent governor, Mrs Sarah Woodford, on the Governing Body, alongside Mr Richard Whinney (former parent and Chair), Mr Alan Keenleyside (former Headteacher and Vice Chair), Mrs Nicola Nutley (former parent and now a co-opted member), Miss Gray (Teacher), Mrs Carr (CEO) and myself.
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY! February 12th is 'FUN FAVOURITES FRIDAY' - a day to be filled with your family's favourite things!
Our feedback to you: You are all doing the most amazing job! Every day the staff have stories to tell about the fantastic lessons going on online and it is wonderful to see the work our children are producing.
Your feedback to us: Thank you for all the great feedback you've sent so far. Hopefully you feel we've taken this on board and tweaked things where we can to make life a little more manageable.
The Trust are now gathering feedback about the provision across all of our academies. Please complete the survey to the left/above (depending on your device) and let our Executive Team know what you think; people are often quick to complete such surveys and contact Head Office when they have negative comments... Let's use this as an opportunity to show off all the fabulous work our pupils and staff have done over the past month and get them the credit and recognition they deserve. Thanks in advance.
Don't forget to keep an eye out for any 'wonders of nature' when you're out and about and share them on Mrs Smith Nature Slides via your class stream.
Having had no events now for almost a year, the PTA funds are starting to suffer. If you have any remote fundraising ideas, or work for any businesses that can offer donations or matched funding, please let us know.
We can't wait to see the children's entries for the Northumberland County Council International Woman's Day Art Competition - check your child's class stream for more info.
Lockdown won't stop our love for Makaton - After half term Miss Ward will be starting an online Makaton Club for children in Key Stage 2. More details will be shared in the class steams.
On Tuesday 9th February we will be focusing on online safety. We'd love parents and other family members to get involved too.
We'll also soon be recruiting our first Online Safety Ambassadors from Year 3!
Just an early heads up for World Book Day on Thursday 4th March 2021. Whilst we'll be celebrating it as always, the majority of children will still be learning remotely.
We really don't want anyone spending any money on a costumes, and have some great ideas for DIY items that the children will be able to wear. More details to follow soon.
