Following the attempted break in at school this weekend, as many of you will be aware from our social media sites, we are trying to raise money to install effective CCTV in school.
A parent has very kindly set up a justgiving page to support this. We have been astounded by the donations so far. £820 has been raised in less than 48 hours! We are aiming for £2000 in the hope this will give us a fit for purpose solution.
If you are able to give anything, here is the link for the fund. Please also share from our Facebook page to your own. If anyone works locally and has an employer who may also be able to support, please let them know too!
Every donation is hugely appreciated, as this will allow us to focus our school budget on our children, who we all know deserve the very best.
No surprise really, but our very socially aware children have been asking all morning what they could do to help school following the attempted break in.
We've said to them that they could chose to write or email local businesses/councilors to ask for support (though they may need grown up help with this), but they wanted something more 'fun'!
With this in mind, we've agreed that for the remainder of this half term, we will have a "MIDWEEK TREAT TUCK SHOP"!
How this will work: Parent will pay 50p per week via School Gateway (this is set up already so do it now before you forget! - you can also pay for the whole half term in advance!).
At the end of the day each Wednesday, those who have signed up will receive their "midweek treat" to have on the way home! We've ordered for the first three weeks: Week 1 - Ice lollies, Week 2 - Crisps, Week 3 - Mini bags of biscuits!!
HOMEWORK: We will be sending information out via email this week regarding our new homework strategy - I know we were meant to do this last week, but we felt the children needed a week to settle back in first.
Please keep an eye on your emails.
Last week we told you we'd be having a special focus on Science today... well - we've decided to go all out and make this last all week! Throughout the week, the children will have virtual visits to from Professor Bubbleworks! These online lessons are jam packed with wow moments that we hope will inspire lots of budding little scientists!
Huge thank you to the PTA who have funded this wonderful experience for our children!
Last week we shared with you via email all the clubs we have on offer this term. The schedule is jam packed with everything from Lego to Stargazing, Fitness to Bookworms and Ecowarriors to Forest School!
You can find all of this information on the website by clicking the button below.
Coming soon - over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May (start of half term) we will be having a Bank Holiday Book Blast!
As you are aware - we love reading, so we'll be having a weekend focus on our love of books, including a Sponsored Reading Challenge, and hopefully, (if we can get local businesses to agree!), a Book Character Treasure Hunt around our amazing town!
Pencil it into your diary!
(Don't worry if you're away that weekend - you'll really have all of half term to complete these tasks - you can just choose a different 100 hours in which to do your challenge.)
New menus are proving very popular! These can be found on the website (link at the bottom or click this image).
This time we've added the dates for each week to make these more user friendly! (If we couldn't keep track, we're pretty sure you struggled too!)
A reminder that you should book and pay for lunches using the clubs option on School Gateway.
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for Prudhoe West PTA with Easyfundraising?
There are over 4,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds.
All you need to do is:
1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/prudhoewestpta/?utm_campaign=raise-more and join for free.
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Prudhoe West PTA at no extra cost to you whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges and Prudhoe West PTA will be really grateful for your donations.
If shopping on Amazon, please also support the school by accessing amazon via smile.amazon.co.uk .
The first time you log on, search for 'Prudhoe West' (Prudhoe West First School Parent Teacher Association) and select us as your organisation to support, then shop via the smile.amazon.co.uk link rather than the main amazon site. Again there is no difference to you, but this will support the school. Please share these links via your socials and with friends and family.
