I was born and raised in Germany and got my PhD in physics at RWTH Aachen University, where I studied ultra-high energetic cosmic ray particles with the Pierre Auger Observatory in Argentina. After graduation I took a researcher job for 5 years at the IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the Marquette University research group in Milwaukee, Wi. Now I’m an assistant professor for physics at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD.
I will present why I started studying physics and how I found my research interest in astroparticle physics. I will also present my current work on cosmic rays and new particle detector development for the extreme environment of the South Pole.
Please arrive to the class at our normal time.
You will have group critique and time to work on your design and slide.
