Display logic is an advanced project management feature that allows both Project and Event Administrators to display questions for Survey Users based on how they respond to previous questions. Questions that have display logic applied to them will only appear to Survey Users if they have given a certain answer (or answers) to a previous question within the survey section.
Display logic can be used when creating both event level surveys and base surveys.
Applying display logic to base survey questions must be done on the Base Survey Management page.
For event level surveys, display logic can only be applied to custom questions, not curated question groups or base survey questions.
Display logic can only work between two questions: the display question and the precursor question. The display question is the question to which display logic is applied, and the precursor question is the question whose responses are the conditions for showing the display question. The display question and the precursor question must be within the same section.(You may add a display condition, which will allow a second precursor question to be linked to the display question. This situation, however, does not constitute a relationship amongst the three questions; it merely creates an additional two-question relationship in which the display question is involved.)
The precursor question must be a Single Select or Multi Select question that precedes the display question. The display question, however, may be a Single Select, Multi Select, Text, or Matrix question.
Display logic cannot be applied to the first question in a section.
A display question cannot act as a precursor question for another display question.
Display logic is different from skip logic in that Survey Users are not directed to a new page or section; instead, the question that display logic is applied to will automatically appear on the survey page.
Locate the question to which you want to apply display logic. Select the Logic Icon next to the question on the left side of the screen.
Using the dropdown menu, choose the precursor question.
From the next dropdown menu that appears, select the question response(s) that will be the conditions for showing the display question. Note: If you select more than one response, for either Multi Select or Single Select questions, the display question will appear if any one of the responses is chosen by a Survey User. It will also appear if many or all are chosen (in the case of Multi Select questions).
If you would like to add an additional precursor question, select “+Add display condition”. You can then add another question and apply display conditions.
Note: The display question will appear if conditions are met for either question. It will also show if conditions are met for both questions.
Select “Save” to save the display logic that you have applied.
Note: You will also have to save the survey itself.
To remove the display logic, select the Trash Can Icon to the right of the display condition.
