NARRATIVE

We have an amazing story to share at Winfield City Schools. A story where stakeholders are the main characters and the plot is all about STEM implementation. In our school, stakeholders are not infographics and charts. Winfield's stakeholders are humanized as family, school, and community. Each of these helps write our story, day-by-day, and year-by-year. This is us!

Our school has created a network of various communications to engage our stakeholders and ensure that our story is being told. We believe that providing current information about routine daily happenings as well as photos and videos of amazing lessons or activities that are taking place in our district is crucial. Winfield City Schools is continuously attempting to bridge the gap between the classroom and home, and due to this strong effort, our stakeholders view our school as moving in a positive direction. Our story's theme is "A Tradition of Excellence", and that theme resonates through each form of connection with our valued stakeholders.

At Winfield Elementary School, we want to ensure that our students know how to safely and correctly consume information from social media. Our goal is that they are able to apply their knowledge from using social media to effectively and successfully produce it, as well. Social media then becomes educational media that can be used for marketing, interacting with stakeholders, and improving our followers' engagement.

Our school's social media platforms provide the opportunity to interact and connect with our community. We hope to create genuine relationships with our stakeholders through the content we provide on our school's Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WINfield App, YouTube, Remind, and SchoolCast. Daily posts, updated information, and current events on all of our media platforms help us maintain a positive rapport with all of our valued stakeholders and help us maintain our reputation for "A Tradition of Excellence".

Strengths: Winfield City School System has three main strengths within this standard: Engagement, Results, and Embeddedness. Each school system has faculty and staff that are able to access Winfield's ThrillShare application. This application gives access to reach all Winfield City School's social media outlets, parent contacts through phone calls and text messaging, and the School's website Live Feed. Winfield provides multiple ways to collaborate and give the news to stakeholders. In addition to ThrillShare, Winfield students, faculty, and community members work together to share information through the local radio station and other avenues around the city. Winfield also takes the time to prompt stakeholders about the best way to communicate with them through surveys that are analyzed and put into action.

Opportunities to Improve: Winfield is working on a way to improve Sustainability. Winfield would like to find ways to better communicate inside the school district. Many teachers, administrators, and other staff members only see what is happening in their classrooms or buildings. Improvement of communicating all of the amazing opportunities between classroom, school building, etc. has shown to be a difficult task. Each school system is working on a way to better communicate school and district-wide information with the faculty and staff.

Winfield City Schools App

The Winfield City Schools Application is to provide continuous communication to our stakeholders, community members, students, parents, faculty, and staff. The Winfield City Schools App ensures that one will never miss an event. In addition to updates and school-wide information, the application allows users to customize notifications, provides monthly lunch menus for each school, and displays the Live Feed that can be found on the schools website. The application also allows users to find a staff directory with contact information for each school.

Pirate Spotlight

In an effort to keep our students, parents, and community informed about the wide variety of programs occurring within our schools, we have joined forces with WKXM Radio to bring you the "Pirate Spotlight" each Thursday morning at 7:30 during weeks when school is in session. Each week, Dough Threadgill, the morning DJ for WKXM, will partner with a teacher and a few students from one of our three campus sites to share news from the Winfield City School system. Together, they will highlight an event, program of study, or activity that is taking place in one of our buildings. The "Pirate Spotlight" will focus on sharing news from grades Pre-K through seniors at the high school level, including our extended classroom of Shirey House Internet Café.

Winfield City Schools Website/Live Feed

At Winfield City Schools, we believe our website/live feed is the front door of the school, a place to welcome all virtual visitors and the opportunity to make an excellent first impression. Our school community includes stakeholders-parents, students, educators, and virtual visitors which all tour our website. We embrace the opportunity to highlight our school's vast amount of daily activities and to present timely, engaging, and current information on our website. The door to our website is always open to current stakeholders, and potential new ones. Our ultimate website mission is to offer everyone, from anywhere, the ability to see the true personality of our school.

So, come on in....look around......and see the amazing education we have to offer.

Welcome, to our "Tradition of Excellence".

We are so glad you decided to visit!
