STEM Culture

Our greatest area of strength is that all students at Winfield Elementary School are exposed to a STEAM curriculum. STEAM disciplines, concepts, and methodologies are embedded in everyday instruction and made available to all students without exclusion. Our special needs students in Pre-K through grade 8 represent a group of non-traditional students who receive STEAM education on a regular basis. The content strands of the Curriculum Guide to the Alabama Course of Study is based on the Common Core State Standards Initiative, which emphasizes creativity, rigor, collaboration, and equity. Winfield Elementary adheres to this curriculum by employing the STEAM philosophy comprehensively in our instruction.
