Potty learning is a developmental process, and every child arrives at readiness at a different time. Children are welcome to attend Windmill in diapers; please provide a labeled bag with diapers and wipes. Educators will check and change diapers after snack and as needed throughout the day. When children begin showing signs of readiness, we will support toilet learning with patience, encouragement, and without pressure, helping them notice their bodies, recognize when they need to use the bathroom, and gradually build confidence and independence.

Families and educators work together to create a consistent and supportive experience between home and school. When your child is ready to wear underwear at school, please let your teaching team know so we can best support them. We ask that your child first have at least one week of wearing underwear at home with minimal accidents. Accidents are a completely normal part of learning, and we respond with calm reassurance and encouragement while keeping families informed about what we are observing at school. If your child has two or more accidents in one day, we will connect with you to develop a plan that best supports your child.
