2024-2025 Course Requests

Course requests will be open in TeacherEase today (Wednesday 4/10) at 2:00 pm and are due Wednesday, April 24 at 2:15 pm!  Please read the following information carefully.

Course descriptions can be found on Mrs. Chumley’s website by going to Scheduling then Curriculum & Course Offerings.  There you can also find a graduation checklist and a fillable 4-year plan.  Many of you  have already started your 4-year plan and now is a great time to check back with it and update it!  Please be sure to read the information on the Curriculum & Course Offerings page about enrollment policies (yes, you have to sign up for a PE) and more.

Graduation requirement update: The “computer science” requirement for the Class of 2026 and later has been adjusted by the state to be a “computer literacy” requirement, which can be fulfilled by taking 1 credit (2 semesters) of any of the following classes: Newspaper/Yearbook, Information Processing, Current Events in Business, Internet Concepts and Tools, Intro to Business, Sports Marketing & Media, Digital Media Design & Production.  Many of you have not fulfilled this requirement yet!

If you have been recommended for one of the following courses based on test scores and teacher input, you will receive an email by 2:00 pm today regarding that recommendation:

You will also receive an email if you are a freshman who has been recommended to double up on math (Geometry and Algebra II) as a sophomore.  Some may also receive individual math recommendations, particularly for Precalculus and College Algebra/Trig.  In most cases, if you are not recommended for a class, that doesn’t mean you can’t sign up for it, but it means our data and observations have shown that you would be more successful in a different course.  If you don’t receive a math recommendation email, you are strongly encouraged to talk to your math teacher or Mrs. Chumley about which math class may be the best fit for your specific situation.

You are welcome to stop in and and discuss your courses with me any time during lunch, advisory, or if you have spare time during a class (especially on days you have a substitute and/or are in the library)!
