Mrs. Kahana is excited to start her 4th year teaching in the district! Before joining the D39 community she taught for a year abroad. Upon arriving back to the States, she taught with the North Suburban Special Education District for 3 years before finding her way to District 39. She has a B.S from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Psychology. She has a M.A from Northeastern Illinois in Special Education. Outside of the classroom Mrs. Kahana is currently awaiting the arrival of her first child! In the meantime she likes spoiling her dog, reading, cooking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. She is excited to be working with students and staff across the district this year!

This is Mrs. Parker's 10th year teaching in D39. Before starting at Romona, she taught in Ohio in a Resource Room/Inclusion Language Arts and Math to 5th and 6th for 6 years, 7th and 8th graders at a middle school for a year, and first taught at an integrated special education pre-school in the 4-5 year old classroom. She also worked for two years in Educational Professional Development for Don Johnston, Inc. in Volo. Mrs. Parker has an undergraduate degree in Special Education from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and a Master's degree from Concordia University in Inclusive Classrooms.
Mrs. Parker lives in Northbrook and has an eleven year old son who is starting junior high in 6th grade and a ten year old daughter who is starting 5th grade. Her husband is an artist and deals in antiques. She likes playing board games, doing embroidery, working in her garden, birding, baking and geocaching. Mrs. Parker always looks forward to school each fall and can’t wait to get started!

Ms. Sale is an innovative educator with experience as a paraprofessional and classroom teacher. She is originally from Orlando, FL where she attended the University of Central Florida. There, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Exceptional Student Education. She also obtained a graduate certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder. Three years ago, she relocated to Illinois with her husband, so that he could attend medical school. Aside from teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and hiking. Taylor could not be more enthused to begin working in Wilmette and can’t wait to bring her passion for differentiation and inclusion to Central Elementary School as a Learning Behavior Specialist.

Mr. Rahn is an energetic and positive Special Education Teacher who enjoys working with his students on a daily basis. He was born and raised not too far from here in Schaumburg, IL and grew up playing soccer, baseball, and basketball. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in 2013 as a Learning Behavior Specialist. Mr Rahn has taught Kindergarten through 4th grade, as well as 7th and 8th grade over the past seven years. This will be his third year at McKenzie Elementary and he is eager to start Remote Learning and introduce some new, exciting programs to his students. In his free time, Mr. Rahn loves to stay active and exercise, read books, spend time with his family (especially his niece Delaney who brightens his day every time he sees her), and travel. He also welcomed his new best friend, Calvin, to his life this past May and loves spending every minute he can with him! Mr. Rahn is excited to bring in his passion for teaching to each of his students and can't wait to watch them learn and grow!
