Professional Philosophy
My name is Victoria Morrison and I am a senior honors student at Wilkes University with a major in Hospitality Leadership and minors in: Entrepreneurship, Management, International Studies, Leadership, and Global Cultures. Over the years I have always held myself to high standards, and have pushed myself to new limits and new challenges.
Coming from a multicultural family, I have always wanted to share my knowledge of intercultural exchange and being a global citizen. Being an adopted African American woman and a minority I have always had challenges that others may not understand. As the odd one in my classes and in my family, I've had many challenges to face in a short amount of time. However, when I came to Wilkes I decided that I wanted to make a difference by using my strengths instead of treating them like a burden.
As a Hospitality Leadership major I have thus far learned how to successfully manage and effectively work in the different positions of a dinner theater during my internship in the Fall of 2018. Also during my Summer 2019 internship I learned to integrate intercultural communication with daily office work while working in the marketing department of a travel agency. I have also learned the differences between the hotel industry and the tourism industry and how they are connected to form a whole.
Through Wilkes University I have also launched a business as well as gained the skills needed to successfully run my launch project and create lasting relationships with customers. My goal is to use the skills that I have learned from my business courses and my knowledge of intercultural relations to make a place for myself in the world that allows me to communicate with people from all around the world and continue to contribute to the hospitality industry.
My philosophy is to be a bridge between cultures and to act as an intercultural link for my community and those around me.
