During the 2018-2019 school year I also became the president of the Asian Cultural Society. During the school year we were very active with many cultural events including cultural food fundraisers, festival days and our largest event the Lunar New Year celebration where we performed a traditional Korean Fan dance and had a demnostration from the Iai Jutsu traditional Japanese Sword Art club. This event also featured traditional foods from Korea, Japan, and China and short presentations about the history of Lunar New Year presented by the club members.
In January of 2020 I continued my role as the Asian Cultural Society President and was an active member once again in the planning and presentation of the Lunar New Year Celebration at Wilkes University. The event included presentations, performances, games, prizes, and lots of food for guests to try.
In 2018 I also founded and became the president of the Hospitality Leadership Club. During our first year we participated in fundraisers, site tours of local Hospitality specialized companies, and also participated in the 2018 CHIA conference in New York City. At the CHIA conference the club members were able to watch Hospitality Pitch competitors and visit the over 1,000 vendors present in the convention center. The CHIA conference was also where our members completed the training modules for the CHIA certification exam which we took in late November with all members passing and receiving their certifications.
