Adding personal recording sites

Why add personal recording sites?

Adding personal recording sites in my sites is useful if you're regularly recording at the same place. It makes it easy to add records for these locations.

Some examples of some sites you might want to add include:

Your garden
Your local park
A local birding spot
Somewhere you go on a regular walk

You can find the my sites page at ../sites/my

And it will look like this:

You can add a site by clicking Create site

Provide this information about your site:

Site name: the name of the site

Comment: some extra information about the site (non-essential)

Map ref: A grid ref or lat/long coordinate roughly representing the centre of the site, you can generate this by clicking on a point in the map or typing it in manually

First, click on the map somewhere for the centre of the site.

Then, click on this icon to draw a polygon:

Then draw your shape, double click to finish the shape. If you are unhappy with your shape you can just start drawing a replacement shape and it will ask you if you want to replace your old shape with your new shape.

Message that will pop up if you draw a new polygon over the old one.

When you're happy with your site, press 'Submit'. This site will now appear on your 'My sites'

Now when you go to enter a casual record or enter a list of records you will see you site appear as a suggestion as you start typing into the location input:
