Story Morning next week: 30/09/26

 We will be demonstrating a phonics lesson with you. There will be time to talk to you about how you can help your children at home to secure their phonics knowledge

This week in our maths sessions, Seedlings Class  have been working really hard to sort objects by different categories. We started of with simple rules such as colour, and size and then moved onto more tricky rules such as........... 

can run fast or run slow. 

This has been great for getting the children to think critically and communicate their rules with their peers. It was a lot of fun!

We have been making and reading CVC words and continuing to practise our oral bleanding.

Reluctant: Feeling like you really, really don't want to do something. Logan is reluctant to step outside his door because the big forest feels too scary.

Maths

This year in maths, we will be focusing on building children’s early counting skills through the five key counting principles. These are:

• The One-to-One Principle – children learn to match one number name to each object, making sure they only count each object once.
  
  

• The Stable Order Principle – children understand that numbers must be said in a fixed order when counting.
  
  

• The Cardinal Principle – children realise that the last number they say when counting represents the total amount in the group.
  
  

• The Abstraction Principle – children learn that we can count anything, not just objects we can touch, but also sounds and actions like claps or jumps.
  
  

• The Order-Irrelevance Principle – children understand that objects can be counted in any order, and the total will still be the same.
  
  

By exploring these principles in fun and practical ways, we will help children develop strong foundations for their mathematical learning
