This term, our leading text will be Street Child by Berlie Doherty - there is no need for your child to read this book before the term begins. However, if your child enjoys reading, listening to audio books or you love reading to them feel free to access this text.
Tuesdays (outdoor) and Thursdays (indoor) are our PE days. The children will need to come into school in their school PE kit. Thursday is also our Forest School Day so suitable clothing for both Forest School and PE would be ideal but children can come in their PE kits and get changed into Forest School kits.
Dates for your diaries:
Drop-in sessions for parents who are struggling with accessing Google Classroom at home. This will run from 8.30-9am on Monday 5th, Tuesday 6th and Wed 7th of October. and parents will be able to bring their devices so that we can get them logged on.
Monday 12th October 2026 - Canal and River Trip - FREE - Details on Arbor please make sure you have logged in and given consent.
Wednesday 14th October Jumping Jaxx Training - we will swap PE this week no PE on Tuesday 13th October but double on Weds.
Thursday 22nd October and Friday 23rd October 2026 - TED Training Day - no school for children

Chestnut - homework expectations
3 x reading per week - reading and diary to be handed in every Friday - 3 stamps given. Please sign reading diaries, if you have lost them please confirm on a piece of paper or email Ms Perry at aperry@sbp.saet.co.uk that your child has read x3 otherwise the children will need to stay in Friday break times to read and complete their homework.
This includes a spelling worksheet that the children need to practice and have been taught during the week (see picture of sheet above).
Also a maths skills check one A4 sheet per week (I have photocopied the entire term but the children only have to complete 1 sheet per week dates are on the sheets - photo of what the maths looks like). This is coming out this Friday 18th September and children will need to complete either 51.1 or 31.1 reference top right-hand corner. The staff will then go through the answers with the children the following Friday.
Homework needs to be handed in on the following Friday along with reading diaries signed by parents.
