*Submarine*

One of the first combat submarines, "The Turtle," was designed in 1775 by David Bushnell. Connecticut is also responsible for building the first nuclear powered submarine, the U.S.S. Nautilus. The United States Navy Submarine Force Museum is located in Groton, Connecticut.
