OVERVIEW
ENVERB
EnVerb is a versatile Logic Pro reverb that allows for unique control over the shape of the reverb tail. Unlike standard reverbs, it features a graphic envelope display, making it ideal for creating "reverse" reverb effects or gated sounds that cut off precisely.
Envelope Control: Manually shape the Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release of the reverb tail.
Time Parameters: Adjust Pre-delay and Dry Signal Delay to separate the effect from the original sound.
Sound Shaping: Includes a Crossover parameter to process low and high frequencies independently.
Density & Spread: Fine-tune how "thick" the reverb sounds and how wide it sits in the stereo field.
Creating "Reverse Reverb" effects by using a long Attack time.
Designing "Gated Reverb" for 80s-style drums by using a high Sustain and zero Release.
Adding rhythmic texture to synth pads or vocal chops.
Phil Collins – "In The Air Tonight"
David Bowie– "Heroes"
The Lovin' Spoonful – "Summer in the City"
Peter Gabriel– "Sledgehammer"

Low End Clarity: Use the Low Freq Level and Crossover settings to reduce reverb on your bass frequencies, keeping your mix from getting muddy.
The "Reverse" Trick: Set a long Attack and a short Release to make the reverb bloom after the note for a backward sound.
Dry Signal Delay: Adjust the Dry Signal Delay to create unique rhythmic offsets between your original signal and the reverb tail.
FAMOUS USES
(These songs didn’t use Logic’s EnVerb specifically, but they are strong examples of different reverbs.)
Phil Collins – "In The Air Tonight"
Song Duration: 5:36
Timestamp: 3:41
Use: Gated Reverb – The definitive example of using a gated reverb on drums to create a powerful, punchy sound that cuts off abruptly.
David Bowie– "Heroes"
Song Duration: 6:11
Timestamp: 2:15
Use: Dynamic Room Ambience – Uses gated room microphones to capture the natural reverb of the studio only when the vocal reaches a certain volume.
The Lovin' Spoonful – "Summer in the City"
Song Duration: 2:39
Timestamp: 1:10
Use: Reverse Echo Texture – Early experimentation with backward-sounding echoes and reverb-like textures to add tension to the track.
Peter Gabriel– "Sledgehammer"
Song Duration: 5:12
Timestamp: 0:00
Use: Gated Percussion – Uses a tight, gated reverb on the snare and brass hits to create the signature high-energy, "dry but huge" sound of the 1980s.

VOCABULARY
Attack: The time it takes for the reverb to climb to its peak level.
Decay: The time it takes for the level of the reverb to drop from its peak to the sustain level.
Sustain (Hold): The duration and volume level the reverb stays at before the final fade-out.
Release: The time it takes for the reverb to fade out completely after the sustain phase.
Crossover: The frequency used to split the input signal into two bands for independent processing.
Density: Sets the number of reflections within the reverb tail to control how "thick" or "smooth" it sounds.
Spread: Controls the width of the reverb stereo image, ranging from mono (0%) to an artificially expanded base (200%).
