OVERVIEW
BPM COUNTER
The BPM Counter plug-in analyzes incoming audio and automatically detects its tempo in beats per minute (BPM). It’s useful when working with loops, imported audio, live recordings, or student performances where the tempo is unknown. The BPM Counter continuously monitors the transients in the signal and provides a stable tempo readout once enough information is collected. This helps you quickly match Logic’s project tempo to any audio you bring in — making editing, quantizing, stretching, and syncing much easier.
Real-Time Tempo Detection: Continuously analyzes the audio signal and displays an estimated BPM that stabilizes as the plug-in gathers more data.
Simple, Clean Display: Large BPM readout makes it easy to see results even from a distance (useful in classrooms or live tracking situations).
Reset Button: Clears the current analysis so you can generate a fresh tempo reading when switching audio clips.
Works on Any Source: Use it on drum loops, complete mixes, percussion, or rhythmic instruments — anything with clear transients.
Finding the tempo of imported loops or samples: Quickly set your project tempo to match audio from outside sources.
Analyzing recordings without a click track: Ideal for student performances, live takes, or older recordings.
Beat-matching in remixing and production: Great for DJs, electronic producers, and mashup creators.
Preparing audio for Flex Time or time-stretching: Ensures accurate grid alignment before editing.

Place the BPM Counter first in the signal chain: Ensures the input is clean and not altered by other plug-ins.
Use rhythmic sections for most accurate results: Kick, snare, and percussion transients provide fastest detection.
Loop a short portion of audio: Repeating a small section helps the counter stabilize quicker.
After determining BPM, set Logic’s project tempo manually: Use the readout to match the project tempo so your audio locks perfectly to the grid.
Combine with “Smart Tempo”: BPM Counter gives the number; Smart Tempo handles alignment, stretching, and syncing
