Timetables
These are the English overviews for this year. Don't open as Docs - download it. It can also be found in the English section of 'subject support resources'. Most of the information is duplicated from your long term plans.
For any new staff, the read aloud spine is the book we read at the end of the day. You should also have a poster of these in your book areas. I encourage you to get the children to vote (democracy) for the one they want to read if there is more than one option for that half term. In the infants these are just a few specific ones to read - you will obviously supplement with a lot more. In the case of older year groups, the read aloud spine is there for if your CUSP reading book doesn't lend itself to be read aloud. It may be that it is quite short, non-fiction or quite hard going in the case of some of the archaic texts.
The poetry spine is a specific book/poet that we look at each half term. The children will learn a poem that will be performed in assembly at the end of that half term. Please do this at the end of day on a Monday, instead of your class novel. Can all staff please give your poetry book to Jill by Wednesday and she will select a poem for your class!
The author study is something that we do as part of library time and our Reading for Pleasure agenda. Historically, the children have not been great at talking about authors and can only name a select few. As part of book talk in your library session, please take some time to learn about these authors - they are all linked in some way to the texts you are looking at that half term. You could teach the children about their lives, their book catalogue, watch interviews etc.
