CUSP Art Festival Week
This year’s art festival will be 17th - 21st June (third week back after half term). I have attached all of the details and links for everything you will need in the document below.
The workshop session that we have during the festival week will be the final lesson of your ‘Creative Response’ unit for Summer 2. This means that lessons 1 and 2 of the unit will need to be taught before the festival week. After half term, each class will need to start with their Art unit and then teach their DT block over the last three weeks of Summer term.
Everyone can watch the launch assembly on Monday 17th and the closing celebration on Friday 21st - they will be recorded if you are unable to join them live. There will also be lovely digital art activities and virtual gallery tours that each class can access throughout the week.

QUESTION: What are some of the issues that you might consider to be emotional abuse?
ANSWER: See Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023, paragraph 28
Emotional abuse: the persistent emotional maltreatment of a child such as to cause severe and adverse effects on the child’s emotional development. It may involve conveying to a child that they are worthless or unloved, inadequate, or valued only insofar as they meet the needs of another person. It may include not giving the child 10 opportunities to express their views, deliberately silencing them or ‘making fun’ of what they say or how they communicate. It may feature age or developmentally inappropriate expectations being imposed on children. These may include interactions that are beyond a child’s developmental capability as well as overprotection and limitation of exploration and learning or preventing the child from participating in normal social interaction. It may involve seeing or hearing the ill-treatment of another. It may involve serious bullying (including cyberbullying), causing children frequently to feel frightened or in danger, or the exploitation or corruption of children. Some level of emotional abuse is involved in all types of maltreatment of a child, although it may occur alone.
