Staff Question of the Week
QUESTION: It is now possible to create sexual abuse images of children and young people using AI (Artificial Intelligence). This technology allows perpetrators to generate dozens, even hundreds of child sexual abuse images at the click of a button. Internet Watch Foundation analysts say that some of these pictures are indistinguishable from real ones.
As these images are computer-created, is it illegal to possess or share them?
ANSWER: YES. Under UK law, it is illegal to create, view or share sexual images of under-18s – including images that have been created using AI technologies. (It is also a crime under the 2009 Coroners and Justice Act to possess or to share non-photographic images of child abuse, for example, drawings and paintings.)
This year’s art festival will be 17th - 21st June (third week back after half term). I have attached all of the details and links for everything you will need in the document below.
The workshop session that we have during the festival week will be the final lesson of your ‘Creative Response’ unit for Summer 2. This means that lessons 1 and 2 of the unit will need to be taught before the festival week. After half term, each class will need to start with their Art unit and then teach their DT block over the last three weeks of Summer term.
Everyone can watch the launch assembly on Monday 17th and the closing celebration on Friday 21st - they will be recorded if you are unable to join them live. There will also be lovely digital art activities and virtual gallery tours that each class can access throughout the week.
Get involved! Drowning Prevention Week 2024 runs from Saturday 15th to Saturday 22nd June.
Drowning Prevention Week (DPW) is the Royal Life Saving Society’s (RLSS) annual campaign week designed to explore opportunities to proactively raise awareness of water safety ahead of a summer outdoors - messages can be shared throughout summer, not just during DPW!
The Merseyside and Isle of Man Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) is raising awareness of key messages and sharing resources, you can get involved by helping to spread the word on social media using the hashtags #DrowningPreventionWeek #DPW #EnjoyWaterSafely #RLSSUK
