Students have been learning about Piping Plovers, an endangered bird that we find on our own ocean beaches! We talked about why these birds are so important, and ways we can help protect them. Students created beautiful simple pencil drawings of these birds.

April, May 2021

Students have been learning about symmetry by creating beautiful butterflies using paint and chalk pastels, and a simple printing technique!

March, April 2021

Ms. Cucinotta and Ms. Silverman's class, as well as all 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade classes have been collaborating with Bridgehampton artist Laurie Lambrecht to create an art installation at The Watermill Center

Students have been wrapping sticks with yarn and fibers which are being used by the artist to construct a fence at the Watermill Center in Water Mill, NY.

The Watermill Center grounds remain open to visitors daily. If anyone would like to visit, grounds are located at 39 Water Mill Towd Rd, Water Mill, NY.

This month we've been studying Folk Art and looking at Karla Gerard and Grandma Moses.

Students have been working on mixed media artworks inspired by Folk Art using a wide variety of lines, patterns, and collage.

This week in art we are examining and discussing the work of Louise Nevelson. After locating shapes and forms in her work, we began creating assemblage works with found wood scraps.
