The recommendation from the Department of Education is that a score of 4 constitutes a pass at GCSE. This type of pass would be accepted as contributing towards a student's general entry into A Level, subject to meeting the requirements specific to each course.
Please also note that, alternately, a Cambridge International English grade C will be accepted as a pass contributing to general entry into A Level.
Minimum of six GCSE Grade 6 passes or higher must have been achieved, (including English and Mathematics Grade 6 .
However in our experience only students with exceptional GCSE grades (7, 8 or 9) can cope with the pressure of 4 A Level Courses.
Minimum of five GCSE Grade 4 passes or higher must have been achieved, (preferably including English and Mathematics).
This is the ‘exam package’ that we recommend for most students
Minimum of four (4) GCSE Grade 4 passes or higher must have been achieved, (preferably including English and Mathematics).
For a limited number of students, this is the only ‘exam package’ that they will be able to cope with.
Doing this package will limit the university courses students can apply to.
