Introduction

BTEC Level 2 Creative Media Production specification


Component 1: Exploring Media Products - You will develop their understanding of how media products create meaning for their audiences. You will examine existing products and explore media production techniques.

Component 2: Developing Digital Media Production Skills - You will develop skills and techniques in media production processes by reworking media products from one, or all, of the following sectors: audio/moving image, publishing, interactive design.

Component 3: Create a Media Product in Response to a Brief - You will apply and develop their planning and production skills and techniques to create a media product in response to a client brief.

Term 1

Exploring Media products

Students will complete the edit of their digital video productions and evaluate. Alongside this they will spend time undertaking revision of various digital media products, their use and audience impact. Students will learn the regulations concerning the media as well as analysing how products are designed to target their audience.

Term 2

Developing Digital Media Production Skills

Students will consider audience theory and the impact this has on consumers as well as other key elements related to their media examination. Students will sit an external exam in the first week of January.

Term 3

Developing Digital Media Production Skills

Students will evaluate their created digital audio/visual products and consider how they were able to meet their intended target audience through the product which they created. Students will have a final opportunity to review their coursework portfolio prior to final submission.

Term 4

Creating a Media Product in response to a brief

Students will learn about the audio/visual industry and the impact this has had on the modern media world. They will consider the advantages of audio/visual productions over other types of media.

Term 5

Creating a Media Product in response to a brief

Students will undertake preparation for their external assessment. For this component learners will need to plan, prepare and produce a creative media product in response to a chosen brief.

This externally assessed unit will take place during the final week of term 5.

Term 6

Course Complete

Any remaining lessons in Term 6 will be used to practice for the final GCSE examinations which are still to be done in other subjects.
