Year 10
What will I be learning?
Students will be introduced to their theme of ‘Natural Forms’. Students will be introduced to the exam criteria and begin Component 1. During this time students will experiment, explore and apply resilience to a range of materials and processes. They will work with a variety of techniques, materials and processes throughout the project with a focus on:
AO1: Develop
AO2: Refine
AO3: Record
AO4: Final Piece
Students, although informed by artists and their own personal decisions, will be taking inspiration from other subject areas such as Geography - Landscapes/natural world and/or Biology through looking at structures, bones and human form.
Students will demonstrate their understanding of colour theory and composition by creating a personal response to the theme of Natural forms.
How do I develop my knowledge?
Students should develop knowledge by exploring and experimenting with different processes, mediums and techniques. Eg. 1. Complete a drawing 2. Recreate this drawing using craft wire.
Students should also continuously be exposed to artists and Art and this could be supported by going on visits to galleries, museums and exhibitions in their own time.
Term 1
Natural Forms
Initial research
Students will begin their initial research into their Natural forms project. This term they will explore different ideas and themes to develop their research.
Term 2
Natural Forms
Experiment and refine
Students will use their developing research to explore and experiment with new styles and mediums whilst working towards the refinement of ideas and outcomes responding to Natural Forms.
Term 3
Natural Forms
Idea Development
During this term students will work towards developing a personal and meaningful final response and explore compositional layout, colour theory and methods of application to produce a response exploring 2D forms and 3D.
Term 4
Natural Forms
Final Piece Response
Students will focus on AO4 Final piece do consolidate all developments through their journey of Natural forms, presenting a personal and meaningful response reflecting developed and personal technique and style.
Term 5
Identity
Initial independent investigation
Students will begin their own independent initial research into their self directed project responding to identity. Students must explore different routes and possible pathways for their journey.
Term 6
Identity
Research and Respond
Term 6 will revolve around researching artists, movements and techniques and respond in their own creative way. This will allow students to develop creative freedom and confidence.
