Superintendent's Corner
If I were to choose just one word to describe how I feel as my first year as Superintendent of the Westfield Public Schools comes to a close, it is grateful.
Grateful to the Board of Education for allowing me the honor and opportunity to lead such an amazing district. Grateful to a welcoming community. Grateful to an experienced and caring staff that always prioritizes our students. Grateful to our families for a rewarding partnership with our schools. Grateful to our many parent organizations who devote considerable time , expertise , and support to our schools, activities, athletics, and art/music programs. And, with greatest sincerity, I am grateful to our students for their unwavering commitment to their education and to each other during these challenging years.
Congratulations to our 12th graders, 8th graders, 5th graders, and kindergartners as they prepare to move to new schools and new adventures in learning next year, and to all of our students, families, and staff who have demonstrated time and again their strong commitment to the Westfield Public Schools.
I wish you a healthy, restful, and happy summer.

At the June 14 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Pineiro presented to the Board and to the public the district's Comprehensive Health and Physical Education (CHPE) curriculum to be implemented in September 2022.
Dr. Pineiro again shared his presentation and answered questions on June 20 during the 2nd in the new Spotlight on Education Webinar Series.
The Board approved the CHPE curriculum at its meeting on June 21, 2022.
We are proud of the efforts of so many who worked to meet our District Goals this year. We provided for the safe return of our students and staff for full-day, in-person learning while addressing learning gaps and ensuring a continuity of education. We focused on a continued review of curricula and professional development to support student growth and achievement. We developed a framework to guide our DEI efforts. And we surveyed the community about communication best practices while introducing new methods (including The NEWS Letter) to ensure we reach all of our stakeholders. Please enjoy this 2-minute video snapshot of our year-long efforts.
