Look What’s Happening in our Classroom:
September 7th-September 11th
This week we began focusing on ourselves. We are learning about our physical features such as our hair, and eye color as well as our favorites such as color, snack, and toy. We are talking about our names and how many letters are in our name. In class some students are beginning to learn how to make vertical lines. These lines will be able to be connected to become letters and numbers. We practiced creating a circle by bending lines. Our students are also learning about the letter Aa. We are learning the key picture and sound as well as how to form the letter. Some of our students spent time creating self portraits. There are also so many “school words.” Some students spent time finding school words in class and writing them. We call this “writing the room.”
We are doing a great job learning our rules: Be kind, walking feet, hands to self, and inside voice. At Lincoln School we are kind, safe, and responsible. We are also learning our hello songs and good-bye song! We practiced taking turns with puzzle pieces, playground equipment, and blocks and cars. We used play doh this week. When you want to loosen the play doh in the jar you can squeeze the jar so it falls out. During math we graphed our favorite colors. We also created crayon patterns and fish patterns. Our class spent time exploring many of our math manipulatives this week. In addition, we also compared and contrasted mirrors and magnifying glasses.
