Look What’s Happening in our Classroom:
All about our class: This week we continued our Pets unit. We answered the question: WHat kind of animals make good pets? This week we practiced writing our first, last or both names the “rainbow way.” Try rainbow writing at home! Have your child choose 3 colors. You create a model of his/her name. They trace over your model in 3 different colors. During Heggerty we have been identifying initial and final sounds in words. We have also practiced blending and segmenting 1 syllable words. This week we filled in the missing words to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. During math we played the plus/minus elevator game. We learned what the + and - signs look like. During the game we had to look at the sign and then choose if we needed to add on or subtract.
Help From Parents
Counting on and back from a stopped position is an important concept. We do not always start at the number 1. At home, you can go on a hunt for numbers. When you find the number, try to count back or forward. You may also play the stop/start game. You may begin counting and when you stop say go up or back. Your child may continue counting. Happy counting!
