This year’s Sports Day felt different from previous years. As seniors, many of us had been so focused on academics that we hadn’t trained or played sports regularly, making the competition feel even more challenging. Despite that, we came together and determined to enjoy our last Sports Day to the fullest.
I played both basketball and football, and it was physically exhausting—not just because of the intensity of the matches but also due to the heat. The sun was relentless, and keeping up my energy throughout the games was tough. In basketball, I struggled with maintaining speed and coordination since I hadn’t played in a while, but our teamwork helped us push through. Everyone supported each other, calling out plays and passing strategically while making sure no one was left behind. Even though we faced some tough opponents, we gave it our best effort and played with enthusiasm.
Football was even more demanding since I was less experienced in the sport. I did my best to stick to my position and contribute to the team’s defense, but at times, it was difficult to keep up with the faster-paced plays. Despite that, the encouragement from my teammates kept me going, and we managed to hold our ground. Winning some matches was a great feeling, but even in the ones we lost, the teamwork and shared effort made it all worth it.
Beyond just playing, I made sure to cheer for others throughout the day. Since this was our final Sports Day as seniors, I wanted to create an uplifting atmosphere and help my classmates enjoy the event as much as possible. I recorded plenty of videos and photos to capture the memories, knowing that this was one of those moments we’d look back on fondly after graduating. Seeing everyone give their all, regardless of the outcome, made me appreciate the sense of community we had built over the years.
Reflecting on the experience, I realized how important perseverance and collaboration are, even in situations where we aren’t the most prepared. Sports Day was not just about winning, it was about pushing our limits, supporting each other, and making the most of our time together. Despite the physical challenges and the exhaustion, it was an unforgettable experience that reminded me of the value of teamwork and simply having fun in the moment.
