Learning Outcomes:
1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Having previously secured second place in the International Youth Unification Golden Bell, this marked my second participation in the event. While the practice questions differed from last year, my previous experiences as a participant in the 2022 competition and my role as a prominent junior member of PUAC provided a solid foundation.
As a result, this time around, I found the competition to be less challenging. Instead of relying solely on rote memorization, I focused on comprehending the information, enabling me to adapt that knowledge to future activities.
The competition unfolded with a series of approximately 50 questions, each presented one by one. It was crucial to answer correctly because a single incorrect response meant exclusion from subsequent rounds. As the competition progressed, only a few participants remained for the final stages. Notably, participants from countries such as Malaysia, Laos, and the Philippines also joined through the online platform.
While the joy of answering questions accurately and winning third place added to the excitement, what I cherished most about this competition was the tremendous opportunity for learning. It provided me with insights into the diverse cultures of North and South Korea. Moreover, it reaffirmed the significance of "peace" in every situation, particularly in the context of reunification.
